Brachioplasty

Brachioplasty or lifting of the arms, is the correction of skin relaxation and possibly also of the fat deposits in the arms. These conditions can result in advancing age, in pregnancies with conspicuous and sudden changes in weight or even after liposuction operations.

Brachioplasty reshapes the upper limb from the shoulder to the elbow, removing excess skin from the inner face of the arm and, when appropriate, also excess fat.

It improves the tonicity, the silhouette, eliminating also the discomfort of the rubbing of the inner surface of the arms during the movements.

If there is a significant excess of fat, liposuction is carried out first and then usually after approximately 4-6 months the excess skin is removed.

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Usually in day surgery and in some cases with a one night hospitalization.

The duration of the intervention varies from 2-3 hours.

The scar is located on the inside of the arm, bordering the medial and lower arm. At the end of the surgery a drain is placed which is usually removed within 3-4 days.

It is essential for the first 2 weeks to avoid any intense effort with the arms to avoid unpleasant complications such as the collection of serum inside the arm, swelling with consequent scarring problems, pain and inflammation. It is important to avoid direct sun exposure, tanning lamps and sources of intense heat.

The final effect of the intervention is appreciated immediately and improves up to 6 months.

There are no alternative methods in case of significant skin excess. If, on the other hand, the adipose component (fat) prevails, liposuction alone can lead to a significant improvement.
