Liposuction, or liposculpture, slims and remodels specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits and improving the contours and proportions of the body.

What Liposuction Can Treat:

- Thighs

- Hips and buttocks

- Abdomen and hips

- Back

- Arms

- Buttocks

- Knees

- Chest area (female and male breasts)

- Cheeks, chin and neck

- Calves and ankles

What liposuction can't do:

Liposuction is not a treatment for obesity or a substitute for proper diet and exercise.

It is also not an effective treatment for retention cellulite (the dimpled skin that typically appears on the thighs, hips and buttocks) or excess loose skin.

Recovery:

It usually takes about one to two weeks to fully recover. If you've had general anesthesia, someone should drive you home and stay with you for the first 24 hours. You would not be able to drive for 2-3 days. If a small area has been treated, you may be able to return to work within 1-2 days. If it is a large area, it may take up to 10 days of vacation for recovery. The bandage or corset can be removed during the shower. You should avoid strenuous activities for up to two weeks, but walking and general movement should be resumed from day one. The results of the procedure are not always noticeable until the swelling has subsided. It can take up to six months for the area to fully settle.

It is common after liposuction to have:

- bruising and swelling, which can last up to 2 months

- numbness, which should disappear in six to eight weeks

- scars in the cannulae entry holes

- fluid coming from the cannulae inlet holes for 1-2 days max
